a collaborative performance by my mother and I that played with food materially and conceptually, to lighten the gravitas of the primal mother daughter relationship and subvert habitual behaviors around food. We made our own version of biscoitos de polvinho, the ubiquitous, lighter than air, brazilian snack food that we served in a variety of improvised ways during the exhibition opening. My mother used kerchiefs and dowels to raise the biscuits up to me in my precarious elevated hammock where I then re-organized them and distributed in various ways with dowels and ribbons to visitors on the ground.
